A useful scenario has an observation, a proposed mechanism, a horizon and a condition that would change your mind. It is more informative than a directional label on its own.
Before the event
Record the public information available at the time. Write two or more plausible outcomes and identify which observation would distinguish them. Avoid giving a scenario a probability unless you have a defensible method.
During the event
Record new evidence with its source time. Separate a changed fact from a changed interpretation. A larger candle does not automatically confirm the mechanism you proposed.
Afterward
Review whether the reasoning was sound, whether the evidence arrived and whether the original invalidation was respected. Keep hindsight out of the original entry; append a clearly dated review instead.
A community can learn from an unsuccessful hypothesis if the process is transparent. It learns little from a post edited after the event to look prescient. What is one observation that would make you revise your current market explanation?
A scenario journal: write the invalidation before the outcome
