Currencies are relative prices: write down both sides of the story

A currency pair contains two economies and two policy paths. Explaining a move only with news from one country can miss a larger change in the other.

A two-column framework
For each currency, record the policy stance, recent inflation and employment evidence, growth expectations and relevant external exposure. Then ask which side changed relative to prior expectations. Separate the current policy rate from the expected future path.

Keep units clear
Write the base and quote currency. A higher pair price means the base currency is more expensive in units of the quote currency; it is easy to reverse that statement in casual discussion or translation. Preserve the exact pair symbol in every post.

A useful disagreement
One member may be discussing a structural flow and another a short-term data surprise. State the horizon before debating the conclusion. The first task is to determine whether the two claims are actually answering the same question.
